WHAT IS COSMETIC DENTISTRY? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOU SMILE?

Cosmetic dentistry is dentistry aimed at creating a positive change to your teeth and to your smile. This branch of dentistry has only one goal: to give you a smile you love & deserve.

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person's teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance.

Cosmetic dentistry may involve:

  2. the removal of tooth structure or gums – examples: enameloplasty, gingivectomy

  3. neither adding nor removing dental materials, tooth structure, or gums – examples: teeth whitening (bleaching), laser whitening, gum depigmentation

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PUT A VENEER ON?

Traditional veneers placement takes place over two visits. The length of time required for each of these visits will depend on how many veneers a patient chooses to have placed. Following enamel preparation  and dental impressions, it typically takes around 1 weeks for patients to receive their new veneers.

ARE THERE PERMANENT VENEERS?

Composite veneers can be applied in one day, last  approximately 4 to 8 years, and require maintenance. They can be susceptible to chipping if not well cared for. The cost is typically about half of a porcelain restoration.

Ceramic Veneers are meant to be a permanent alteration, as they require removal of some of your natural enamel to fit properly. However, no dental restoration lasts forever. The average life of a porcelain veneer is 5-10 years, with some lasting 15 years or longer and may even last a life time with good oral care and maintenance.
